Community Barnet has been running the Covid Wellbeing Response Service since the beginning of April 2020. During this time, we have provided support to over 300 residents with their shopping, prescription pick up, befriending and information and sign posting.
Since the beginning of July, the government has eased the restrictions on people shielding, allowing them to go out for essential shopping, gather in groups of up to 6 people outdoors, and form a ‘support bubble’ with another household. As the deliveries from the council run food distribution hub have been reduced we have been pleased to continue to help those who continued to need support. However, as the guidance changes and fewer vulnerable people will be advised to shield, we will no longer be offering this direct level of support and the Community Barnet’s Wellbeing response service has come to an end as of Friday 31st July.
Support will continue to be available through the NHS Volunteer Responder Scheme throughout the rest of the year, as well as through a large number of organisations throughout Barnet. You can dowlonad an up to date information pack on other support and voluntary organisations that you can contact if you need any extra help. We encourage you to read through the information and follow up with the many organisations and services that can continue to provide support to Barnet residents ongoing. There is also lots of update to date resources on the Barnet council website
It’s been a pleasure to support our community at such a challenging time, and we hope you have benefited from our service and the incredible job our volunteers have done. We would like to thank them for all of the time and effort they have given to supporting the service and Barnet residents. If you have any questions at all, you can contact Community Barnet staff through the normal Community Barnet contact details.
